It always starts the same way. A small thing is slightly annoying, and fixing it looks like an hour of work. Three weekends later, it's fixed, plus four other things that weren't broken but "could be better."
This time it was reorganizing a shelf of cables and adapters that had been a tangled mess since forever. The actual sorting took maybe twenty minutes. Building little dividers to keep it sorted took considerably longer, mostly because the first two attempts were the wrong size.
Third attempt held up. Everything has a place now, at least until the next box of mystery cables shows up.
Not sure why this kind of thing is satisfying, but it is.
